Time runs fast – so fast, that we nearly have no time before the IncaTrail -> less than two weeks…

So, what happend- you know that we were in Potosi, right? I did the mine tour which was very very interesting, but also shocking. Its just crazy, how the people work there.

Then we left for Sucre, the capital of Boliva. Sucre is a really nice city and I really could stay there for a long long time. We took some private spanish lessons and lived in a homestay. I had unfortunaly not that much luck. The family was nice, but the mother reminded me a bit of Alla in St. Petersburg (this is not a compliment), but at least she was not that strange and “health-obsessed”. The bad part was my “room” – it had LESS then 5 m^2. So the only thing what fitted was the HORRIBLE bed. And it was really bad. The third night I got so agressive that I decided that I wouldnt stay a night longer in this room. And of course, I was sick that time and that didnt improved the situation at all.

For our last night in Sucre, I moved to the homestay family of Eva and they had a really nice big house (like my family) and I got a really nice room and could finally relaxe :D

Saturday night we went out with Sergio the “brother” of Eva. We went to a Rockconcert and had a really great time – Thanks Sergio! :)

My spanish lessons were great and I really enjoyed them – its hard to find a good spanish teacher (or language at all), but Omar was great. :) I am on my way to very good spanish :D

We took the night bus to Samaipata to visit the Parque Nacional Amboró and found a really nice hostal (which seems to be quite dificult in Bolivia). The boss is Texan (how special!!!) and is a doctor and microbiologist – perfect for my sick stomage. He made me buy some pills against parasits and finally I am getting better :-D Its awesome when you can eat what you want and I miss that feeling. Today I am already feeling better and I hope that tomorrow I will be totally fine again. The only bad thing is, that these pills produce a horrilbe taste in the mouth, but hey: being healthy is nearly worth everything! :)

Ok, this was what happend, but much more interesing are other things…

Its strange how diffrent Boliva can be – at the villages you have only very poor indigenas living and in Sucre we met the “rich” or at least middle class. First off all its strange what people thing about the government – indigenas like it (money for pregancy) and the other (white people) dont like it at all. Poor thing is, that the indigenas cant read and actually have no clue what is going on and this country is just so lost in his politics, corupption… Its hard to see a chance of improvment at all. And then you have the landscape: on one hand you have the mountains with more than 4000m easily and on the other hand you have the selva – rainforest. I mean, its hard to provide anything for living.

I still dont know what to think about Bolivia in total but I am getting the idea that there is no Bolivia in total – the country is so diffrent everywhere you go and the people as well. Sucre was very european and clean and nice – I liked it…But the villages with the indigenas – the people are very closed. Its hard to get in contact with them. Very strange!

Oh, one thing I forgot about Sucre was that every day there was a diffrent event in the main plaza. Last weekend there was car race IN THE City. It was loud and not very spectacular – every 15 minutes passing a car. But then there was the 25. Mayo – día del libertad. And a sport motivation day for children… :D That was quite funny :)

To be continued…
